Mobile payment and commerce platform, Paytm announced that the company has received over 3.5 mn transactions on the first day of its flagship festive sale– the Maha Bazaar. The company is expecting to cross total 10mn transactions in its three days (12-14th October) festive shopping extravaganza.
The company said that the recent growth in festive season has been fuelled by categories like Fashion led by ethnic wear, gifts and sweets, apparel, footwear, mobiles, electronics and home furnishings.
“With our platform, we enable thousands of sellers to reach consumers across the country, thus offering a major boost to their sales. Due to the phenomenal response every year, sellers have started to stock products at our partner fulfillment centers to ensure faster shipping for large volume orders,” Vice President – Paytm, Saurabh Vashishtha, said in a press statement.
“Over 70 per cent orders are expected to be placed from tier II and tier III cities during this year’s sale. Every customer is buying more than 2-3 items and we have registered strong growth in festive sales,” he added.
The Paytm marketplace has invested significantly in offering warehousing facilities at up to 90 per cent discount at its 19 fulfillment centers, free consolidation centers at 35 locations and additional manpower to ensure faster and smoother operations during the peak season.
The company’s simple and intuitive seller platform is now available in 7 Indic languages, and pre-sale expert advice has also gone a long way in improving seller productivity. Paytm is the first online marketplace company in the country to offer multiple regional language support for its sellers. With this, Paytm has further expanded its reach to thousands of merchants across the country, thus making mobile commerce more inclusive and spreading festive joy.
Paytm’s distinct Maha Bazaar Sale is yet another step in the direction of the platform’s consistent success in creating a unique presence in the Indian mobile commerce sector. This year’s Maha Bazaar Sale will further cement Paytm’s position as the only platform one has to turn to for all festive shopping.
